Hey, I'm Leo
IT guy, homelab enthusiast, and general tinkerer
The Short Version
I've been doing IT for over 20 years now - started in network engineering, bounced around through systems administration, security, and eventually landed in the infrastructure/DevOps space. These days I spend most of my professional time automating things that used to take weeks and making sure systems stay up when they're supposed to.
At home, I run a 3-node Proxmox cluster that hosts way more services than any reasonable person needs. Kubernetes, GitOps pipelines, monitoring stacks, container registries - basically a mini enterprise datacenter in my office. My wife Tisha is very patient about the power bill.
Speaking of Tisha - we run an AMSOIL dealership together. She handles the customer side, I handle the tech (shocker, right?). We've been at it for years and genuinely believe in the products. Check out National Synthetics if you're curious.
When I'm not staring at terminals or wrenching on things, you'll find me making noise on guitars or bass, scuba diving, fishing, or at the range. I'm also dealing with Essential Thrombocytosis (ET) - a blood disorder I was diagnosed with a few years back. I've got a whole page about that if you're interested or going through something similar.
Outside of Work
Guitar & Bass
I'm terrible at both, but I make them make sounds that only I could be happy with. There's something deeply satisfying about making noise after a long day of staring at YAML files. Tisha plays bass too - she's better than me, but don't tell her I said that.
Currently accumulating more instruments than skill. The collection includes a few guitars and basses that I rotate through depending on my mood and what genre I'm badly imitating.
Scuba Diving
There's nothing quite like being 60 feet underwater where Slack notifications can't reach you. I love diving - the weightlessness, the marine life, the complete disconnection from the surface world.
Haven't been in the water in a while - life gets busy. But the gear is ready and the certifications are current. Just need to make it a priority again.
Fishing
Sometimes you just need to sit by some water and pretend the fish are the ones with the problem. Georgia has plenty of lakes and rivers, and I try to take advantage when I can.
Range Time
Target shooting is another way to unplug and focus on something completely different from work. There's a meditative quality to it - just you, the target, and the fundamentals.
